Congratulations to the following students for their success at the Pensacola Music Teachers Association Sonata Contest on March 18 at UWF. We had almost 400 students attend, 51 teachers participate, and 15 judges evaluating everyone. It was a great day of music. Congratulations!

Spring Recital

6:30pm at Trinitas Christian School

Come celebrate the end of the year with Varela Music Studio's Spring Recital on Tuesday, May 23 at 6:30pm at Trinitas Christian School. Doors will open at 6:00pm. Please bring a plate of snacks or finger foods to share. Students will play one longer piece or two shorter ones.

Federation Festival is quickly approaching. Please make sure your student is polishing and memorizing his music in these last few weeks. 

Festival Theory Test

When: February 17

Where: My classroom at Trinitas Christian School

Time: 1:45-2:45

This is the official day to take the Festival Theory Test. Students should bring a pencil and plan on staying the full hour. If there is time, students will play one of their memorized pieces for others, like a mock performance. If you cannot make it this day, you will be able to take the test the day of Festival at NWFSC.

Plan to arrive at least 20 inutes before your group start time and plan to stay for the whole hour. There are warm up practice rooms on a first come basis. You may or may not see me as I will be accompanying singers and working at the event, but I hope to greet you if I can. Once your group is done, a certificate with a rating will be given right away. Once you have that, you are done and free to leave. Please remember to bring your music books. You cannot qualify for a score without the original music. I will get official results/judges comments at the end of the day and share them with you at the next lesson. if your student is up for a gold cup trophy, that will be presented at the spring recital in May.
